Tom Hareas - VP Development
Thomas S. Hareas is the Vice President of Development for Sembler. Tom is responsible for future shopping center site acquisitions and project development responsibilities for Sembler Florida Development Department. In particular focus to retail shopping center development, Hareas was responsible for the development management for Sembler's Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves, redevelopment of Clearwater Mall (Clearwater, FL), and numerous Target and Publix anchored shopping centers.
Before joining The Sembler Company in 1996, Hareas served as Director of Tenant Coordination for Chicago’s General Growth Properties, Inc., (acquired Homart in 1995) where he administered tenant development, design and construction services for the company’s national portfolio.
Prior to General Growth, Hareas served as Design/Construction Manager for Chicago’s Homart Community Centers, Inc., (Homart Development Co.) where he administered design, construction and development management of several retail power centers completed in the Southeast region including several enclosed malls throughout the U.S. since 1987.
Hareas holds several degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois, including a professional Master of Architecture degree, Master of Science in Architecture, a Bachelor of Science Degree, and substantially completed coursework towards a Master of City and Regional Planning prior to moving to Florida.
Tom is a member of the I.C.S.C. and an active member of his local Tampa Chapter. Tom recently served as the Chairman of Plato Academy, a K-8 charter school in Pinellas County with 6 campuses and 2,000 students.
